Merge Opportunities

About Merge Opportunities

Merge Opportunities is a nonprofit workforce development organization helping young adults ages 18–28 overcome barriers to employment and build sustainable careers. We primarily serve system-impacted young adults, transitioning foster youth, individuals navigating reentry or recovery, and young adults facing economic hardship.

Through career-readiness training, industry-aligned skill development, paid work experience, apprenticeships, and direct employer connections, Merge helps young adults move from opportunity to employment and from employment toward long-term career success. Our support also includes digital and financial literacy, mentorship, transportation assistance, and other resources that help remove barriers to employment.

About the AI Community Corps

Our newest pilot, Artificial Intelligence Community Corps for Nonprofit Impact: A Youth & AI Workforce Lab, brings workforce development, AI education, and community impact together in one model.

Nine WIOA-eligible young adults are participating in a 12-week paid work experience that combines digital literacy, AI fluency, career readiness, and hands-on project work with local nonprofit organizations. Rather than learning AI only as a technical skill, participants are learning how to use it responsibly as a workplace tool to research, organize information, develop content, improve workflows, solve problems, and increase organizational capacity.

Each nonprofit identified a real communications, operations, fundraising, data, or capacity-building challenge for the interns to tackle. Projects include developing social media and communications systems, improving donor and stakeholder outreach, creating AI-supported workflows and SOPs, organizing data and reporting processes, producing digital content, and helping nonprofits build systems they can continue using after the internship ends.
